With the number of phones released recently, it’s easy to be confused as to what device you are going to purchase. Can’t blame you here, the race for the ultimate phone is just heating up. But with the introduction of the iPhone 4, a lot of people believed they found the true winner.
The release of the iPhone 4 was met with such enthusiasm from both lovers and haters. Apple fans anticipated the iOS 4 for months and believed it will be the best phone released by Apple. Haters on the other hand were waiting to see what errors Apple would be making on their new product. To save you the effort in browsing different websites looking for the good, the bad and ugly sides of the iPhone 4, here is a compilation of the reasons why you should either love or hate the iPhone 4.
The Good:
• Design – Lets admit it, the iPhone 4 is one very stylish gadget. The premium and svelte feel differentiates it from the iPhone 3GS that felt like you were holding plastic. It’s noticeably thinner and narrower than the 3GS.
• Display – The iPhone 4 is fitted with the Retina Display. If you are wondering what that means, it’s just a name they used because the display in the iPhone 4 has more pixels than the average human retina. This just means one thing, clear and sharp display images.
• Under the hood – If you think the outside is good, wait till you see what’s inside. The iPhone 4 is powered by the Apple A4 CPU which is the same thing used by the iPad. It will boast multitasking capabilities that was long awaited by the public.
The Bad:
• Antenna – For some reason, I guess the iPhone developers forgot to check the antenna when they released the iPhone 4. The poorly placed antenna resulted in dropped calls. This was quickly addressed by Apple and they gave away free cases to solve the problem. It makes your iPhone less cooler but it makes it work as a phone.
• Proximity Sensor – Although the iOS 4.1 update answered this concern, iPhone 4 owners world-wide found out that they can send mail, turn Facetime on, or mute the phone using their cheeks.
The Ugly:
The iPhone 4 is not a perfect device. The flaws present were easily addressed and were solved by Apple. The only thing people are wondering about is the fact that “this should have been on the first iPhone”. A lot of people are wondering why Apple did not include the said upgrades and/or functionalities in their past releases. As of the moment, Apple is yet to answer that question.
Overall, the iPhone is great, but not to the point of throwing away your current phone and getting an iPhone 4. If you are into aesthetics and heavy app usage then the iPhone 4 might be the thing for you. You can always wait for the iPhone 5 or 6 and see if it’s actually much better than anything else.
